How to repair windows system files using command prompt

Most of us know that the most important files of a windows pc are in the "Windows" folder found usually in C local disk. When these files get corrupted you will usually have to reinstall windows which is a painful and time consuming process. The fact that windows can't boot up when the "Windows" folder gets messed up makes you lose all your files and important document data which are present either in your desktop or documents folder. But what can you do to regain your data by skipping the reinstall? The answer is a simple command 'sfc /scannow'. How to use this command can be found in the guide below.



If Windows Boots Into Desktop


If Windows boots into the desktop you can follow these steps:

1.  Run command prompt as administrator. (Don't know how? Click here)

2. Type in sfc /scannow and press enter.

3. Wait until the process is finished and restart your pc.

Done...


If Windows Doesn't Boot Into Desktop


1. Go to 'Advanced Options' by pressing and holding f8 button after powering your pc.

3. In it choose 'Repair your computer' option and move through the steps until you are presented with a window asking you to choose a tool.

4. In it choose 'Command Prompt'

5. Type in sfc /scannow and press enter.

6. Wait for it to be finished and restart the pc
