Update Nokia Asha Phones Without Low Free Space Problem

No comments :

Many nokia asha users have faced this problem when the phones comes up with a error that there is not enough free space on the phone's internal memory when you try to update its firmware. At first we think that we can fix this problem by deleting apps in the phone memory, unfortunately the asha series of nokia  are budget phones meaning they will be  filled with junk apps and games which are usually useless. Asha phones see these apps as system files and thus we can't remove it by convectional methods.Apps in asha can't delete system files because they can never attain the permission to access the phone memory.

Then why do nokia bundle their phones with these bloat-ware? Because the developers of these apps pay nokia to pre-install these apps in the phone's firmware. This is the reason that the price of asha phones are generally low compared to android or other mobile platforms.

Then what can you do to remove these apps? I have personally tried many software mentioned in various websites but none actually worked for me. But the good news is you can actually squeeze out enough free space for that update following these steps. Before starting make sure your phone battery is full, running out of battery charge during an update will kill your phone.

1. First create a back up of your phone.Go to Settings-----Backup and Restore-----Backup.

2. After back up download the update.Visit this link for help.

3. Switch off your phone and  remove your SIM card and memory card from your phone.

4. Switch on and do a complete factory reset of  the phone. To do it dial *#7370# in stand by /
desktop. The password will be 12345 unless you had already changed  it.

Now your phone will have the free space there was when you first bought it.We removed the SIM because when you switch on your phone with SIM in it, the phone will lose some amount of memory to accommodate the contacts, messages in it for easier access.

5. Switch off the phone after reset and insert memory card.

6. Switch on your phone and install the updates.

7. The phone will start to install the updates. That's It!

Remember: Updating  firmware/software of your phone requires great patience, do not switch off your phone or remove the battery during the update process due to frustration or impatience  your phone will die.
