Nokia Asha Update Guide
Nokia, like all other mobile phone manufacturers provide firmware updates for their phones frequently. While some of these firmware update prove to be useful some have reportedly intensified the problem in the first place such as poor call quality, crashing apps, app not ready messages etc. The cause for this is that when we update the phone to a newer version a lot of personal data like the data in facebook, games and others also find their way into the new firmware, but the new firmware will have updated these programs before the personal data is moved.
Thus the old data will not be compatible with the new version of the software causing intermittent crashes, program not ready messages, and sometimes the entire app may become invisible from the filesystem.
Therefore it is important to factory reset your phone before the update, how to do that can be found in the steps below. Another important thing to check before the update is the level of battery in the phone, the battery should be at least 60 - 70% before starting the update because the update time may vary from 10 minutes to even 1 hour. So let's start
1.Before we start first make a back up of your phone. Goto: Settings ------Sync and Backup-------Create Backup------[check all the boxes]-----Done
2.Download the update. Goto Settings-----Phone-----Device Update-----Downl. Phone sw. The size of the update will vary from a few kilobytes to many megabytes. After downloading the update do not install right away.
3.Time to factory reset, in standby mode (where you can make a call) dial *#7370#. Press on continue, the password will be 12345 unless you had already changed it.
4.Install the software after going to Settings-----Phone-----Device Update----Install sw Update. If you recieve an error message regarding low free space go to this link for help.
5. Wait for the update to finish.
6. After update check to make sure all apps work nicely and correctly.
7. Time to restore the backup. Settings ------Sync and Backup-------Restore Backup------Select the backup you had created before-----Check everything except apps and games.(If you read the introduction you will know why)------Done
8.Enjoy your new OS!
If you have any problems please report back.
